Saving Emails From Outlook 2013 Desktop Client

There are two main methods of saving emails from the Microsoft Outlook 2013 desktop client. NOTE: This is not the same as the Outlook Web Access (OWA-online email access through the UWGB website) and the steps are not transferable.

Method 1: Drag and Drop

  1. Open the folder where you would like to save your emails. It is recommended that you create folders to organize your emails before saving them.
  2. Either drag individual emails from a folder in Outlook or click on the first email, scroll to the last email, and hit Shift+Left Click to highlight multiple emails. To highlight multiple specific emails, hold CTRL and left-click the specific emails.
  3. If you selected multiple emails, drag the highlighted set over to the folder you wish to save them in.
  4. They should now be saved.

Method 2: Outlook Data File

This method is much faster and allows for easy transfer to other computers. You will be able to save individual emails or folders of emails directly from Outlook. Note the location where you save the data file, as you will need to transfer that file to other computers if you wish to access them on other computers. Steps are as follows:
