What is DUO?

DUO is a multi-factor authentication system we call the 2-Step authentication process. "2FA" for short.  This is occurring on each campus in adherence to UW System Security requirements. Our goal is to keep you and your data Safe and Secure. Using the DUO system will help prevent computer hacking of your data because of compromised passwords. There will be a number of tools available to authenticate when using the DUO System. The recommended solution is to use the free Duo Mobile app for your smartphone to confirm your identity, which is generally the easiest option. You may consider using a fob, which generates a random pass code you type in when prompted. A fob is a small, programmable hardware device which provides log-in access [see image]. Client Services will show you how to use these tools, and some individuals may want to use both a smart phone and a fob. These new security measures will help keep your login information safe, and protect high risk data.
