***NOTE: Canvas Badges (formerly Badgr) is a platform for administering and managing digital badges that integrates with Canvas. Some offices and departments may use Canvas Badges to track and award engagement in professional development activities, and some instructors may use badges in their courses to track student progress.***

Creating a Canvas Badges Account

***NOTE: To view and manage the badges that you have been awarded through a Canvas course, you will need to sign up for a free Canvas Badges account with your UWGB email address. Follow the instructions below to create an account and view your badges.***

1. When you earn a badge in Canvas, you should receive an email notification. In your UWGB email inbox, find the email from <noreply@badgr.com> with the subject line "Congratulations, you earned a badge!". If you did not receive an email from Badgr, you can navigate directly to the Canvas Badges sign-up page at badgr.com/auth/signup and create a new account.

2. Select "Create Account" in the email. (If you already have a Canvas Badges account affiliated with your UWGB email, the tab will say “Go to Account” instead.)

3. On the Canvas Badges sign up page, enter your UWGB email address in the email field, then select "Continue."

***NOTE: You must use your UWGB email address when you sign up to track badges you've received through UWGB Canvas courses. Do not use another email address or a social media login to create your account.***

4. Verify your email address for the account you just created:

        1. Using another device, the Outlook application, or a separate browser tab or window, open your UWGB email inbox and find an email with the subject line "Canvas Badges email verification code" from <noreply@badgr.com>. It may take a few minutes for this email to appear. Check your junk folder if it doesn't appear in your main inbox.

        2. Return to the browser tab or window with Canvas Badges open and enter the 6-digit code sent to your email. Select "Verify."

5. Agree to the terms of service by checking the box and selecting "Continue."

6. Enter a password in the two fields at the bottom and then select "Set Password." For security reasons, please do not use your UWGB password.

Sharing a Badge

There are several ways to share a Canvas Badge. Share links can be added to documents or websites as a hyperlink and they allow anyone with the link to view a page with information about your badge. Embed codes display the badge image, name, and some other badge details within a web page. Viewers can also click the embed to view the same public page with badge details as the "share" link option. You can also download the badge .PNG and then add it as a regular image to documents or email signatures.

1. From the Backpack tab in Canvas Badges, select "Share" in the bottom-right corner of the badge's tile.

2. In the Link tab of the pop-up window, select "Copy" button next to the share link.

3. Add the link as a hyperlink on your document or web page by pasting into a link editing menu or rich content editor.

Sharing a Badge with an Embed Code

1. From the Backpack tab in Canvas Badges, select "Share" in the bottom-right corner of the badge's tile.
