Viewing and Sharing Badges from a Canvas Course
If you earned one or more badges from a Canvas course that uses the Canvas Badges integration to automatically reward a badge or badges for completing one or more course modules, you can view and share the badges awarded to you in that Canvas course by selecting the Credentials link in the course navigation menu of that course.
- Select the Credentials link the course navigation menu of the Canvas course where you earned the badge.
- Under "My badge progress" select the name of the earned badge you want to view and/or share to open its page.
- On the badge page, select the Share Badge button to view options for sharing your badge by link, social, or HTML embed code. You can alternatively select the Print Certificate to view your badge award in a printable certificate format.
- You can reference the below sections of this guide for more information on using the Link and HTML (embed code) options of the Canvas Badges share menu.
Using the Canvas Badges Website to View and Share Badges
You can use the Canvas Badges website to view all of your badges at once, including badges awarded to you through a Canvas course and badges awarded elsewhere. The Canvas Badges website also has multiple options for sharing your badges.
Creating a Canvas Badges Account
To use the Canvas Badges website to view and manage the badges that you have been awarded, you will need to sign up for a free Canvas Badges account with your UWGB email address. Follow the instructions below to create an account and view your badges.
- Navigate to the Canvas Badges sign-up page at badgr.com/auth/signup .
- On the Canvas Badges sign up page, enter your UWGB email address in the email field, then click the Continue button.
IMPORTANT: You must use your UWGB email address when you sign up to track badges you've received through UWGB Canvas courses. Do not use another email address or a social media login to create your account. - Verify your email address for the account you just created.
- Using another device, the Outlook application, or a separate browser tab or window, open your UWGB email inbox and find an email with the subject line "Canvas Badges email verification code" from <noreply@badgr.com>. It may take a few minutes for this email to appear. Check your junk folder if it doesn't appear in your main inbox.
- Return to the browser tab or window with Canvas Badges open and enter the 6-digit code sent to your email. Click Verify.
- Agree to the terms of service by checking the box and clicking Continue.
- Enter a password in the two fields at the bottom and then click Set Password. For security reasons, please do not use your UWGB password.
Viewing a Badge
- Log in to Canvas Badges with your UWGB email address and the password you set when creating your account.
- Click Backpack in the top menu bar to view all your badges.
- Click the tile for a badge to view the full description and criteria.
Sharing a Badge
There are several ways to share a Canvas Badge. Share links can be added to documents or websites as a hyperlink and they allow anyone with the link to view a page with information about your badge. Embed codes display the badge image, name, and some other badge details within a web page. Viewers can also click the embed to view the same public page with badge details as the "share" link option. You can also download the badge .PNG and then add it as a regular image to documents or email signatures.
Sharing a Badge with a Share Link
- From the Backpack tab in Canvas Badges, click Share in the bottom-right corner of the badge's tile.
- In the "Link" tab of the pop-up window, click the Copy button next to the share link.
- Add the link as a hyperlink in your document, email, or web page by pasting into a link editing menu or rich content editor.
- From the Backpack tab in Canvas Badges, click Share in the bottom-right corner of the badge's tile.
- Click on the HTML tab.
- Click the Copy button under the embed code.
- Go to an editable web page and paste the embed code into an embed code menu or directly into an HTML editor (e.g., in Canvas or WordPress; see an example of what an embedded badge looks like on a Canvas page).
