Honorlock is an online proctoring service that allows you to take your exam from the comfort of your home. Your instructor may choose to use Honorlock to proctor certain quizzes administered through Canvas.

Requirements for Using Honorlock
Before you can take an Honorlock-proctored exam, you will need:
- A computer with a working webcam and microphone (you cannot take an Honorlock-proctored exam with a mobile device)
- A stable internet connection
- Google Chrome installed on your computer
- The Honorlock Chrome Extension installed
- Your school or government-issued ID
Taking an Honorlock-Proctored Exam
You do not need to schedule an appointment in advance to take an exam with Honorlock; the assessment will be available to you for the time period your instructor has established within Canvas.
To take an Honorlock-proctored exam, log into Canvas, go to your course, and click on the exam (Canvas Quiz). Clicking "Launch Proctoring" will begin the Honorlock authentication process, where you will take a picture of yourself, show your ID, and complete a scan of your room (not all exams will require each of these steps). Honorlock will be recording your exam session through your webcam and microphone. During your exam, Honorlock will also record your screen. Honorlock also has an integrity algorithm that can detect search-engine use, so please do not attempt to search for answers, even if it's on a secondary device.

Practice Exams
Your instructor may enable and administer a practice exam so that you can become acclimated with Honorlock prior to taking higher-stakes exams. Honorlock does not save the proctoring data from practice exams.
Third-Party Exams
Honorlock can also be used to proctor exams which are administered through a third-party platform, such as those provided by a textbook publisher like Pearson or Macmillian Learning. For a third-party exam, you will launch Honorlock proctoring through the Honorlock page of your Canvas course and then navigate to the third-party platform to take your exam. Troubleshooting Tips from Honorlock
- Student Toolbar: During assessments, exam takers have quick access to mid-exam tools via the student toolbar located at the bottom of the testing window.
- Access Codes: When the Honorlock integration is working properly, students will not be prompted to enter an access code to start the quiz. If you see a prompt to enter an access code in Canvas, something on your computer is interfering with Honorlock and you should start a live chat with Honorlock support for troubleshooting assistance.
- Minimum System Requirements: Students must be using a recent version of Google Chrome and a supported operating system to use Honorlock. You can run a system check from Honorlock’s support page to ensure that your device and browser meet minimum system requirements.
