Canvas - Confirming Your User Account's Email Address
This document details how to confirm the email address on your Canvas account. You may need to confirm your email address to receive notifications and course invitations from Canvas.
A known issue in Canvas caused some user accounts created in May or June of 2024 to be created without automatically confirming the associated UWGB.EDU email address. Users may have to manually confirm their email address before others can add them to courses by email invitation or before they can receive notification emails from Canvas. If you choose to add an additional email address to your Canvas account, you will also need to confirm that additional email address. Follow the steps in this guide to manually confirm an email address in Canvas.
- Sign into Canvas with the Canvas Login button at www.uwgb.edu/canvas
- Select Account in the global navigation menu along the left side of Canvas, then select Settings
- Under "Ways to Contact" on the right side of the User Settings page, if your email address is unconfirmed, it will appear as a selectable link. Select your email address link.
- In the Confirm Email Address menu that appears, select Re-send Confirmation
- Check your email inbox for a message from "University of Wisconsin Canvas" (notifications@instructure.com) with the subject "Confirm Email: Canvas". In the email message, select Click here to confirm this registration. Your internet browser will navigate to your Canvas user profile page and will briefly show a registration confirmation message near the top of the page.
