Uninstalling the Java Plug-In from macOS X 10.7 and Up

This document details how to uninstall the Java Plug-In on a Macintosh running OS X 10.7 and higher.


1. In Finder:

        1. Navigate to Go in the Menu bar.

        2. Select "Go to Folder..."

***NOTE: The keyboard shortcut of command + shift + G will also pull up the go to window.***

2. In Go to Folder...

        1. Enter "/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/."

        2. Select "Go."

3. Finder will open the /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ folder.  In the folder, select the "JavaAppletPlugin.plugin" file. Delete that file and empty the trash.

4. Reboot the Mac.

5. The Java Plug-In is no longer on the Mac.
