Uninstalling the Java Plug-In from macOS X 10.7 and Up

This document covers how to uninstall the Java Plug-In on a Macintosh running OS X 10.7 and higher.

1. In Finder, navigate to Go in the Menu bar and then Go to Folder... The keyboard shortcut of command + shift + G will also pull up the go to window.

Navigate to "Go".

2. In the Go to Folder... type /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ and click Go.
Go to "/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/"

3. Finder will open the /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ folder.  In the folder, select the JavaAppletPlugin.plugin file. Delete that file and empty the trash.
Delete the JavaAppletPlugin.plugin file

4. Reboot the Mac.
5. The Java Plug-In is no longer on the Mac.
