Mediasite Video Won't Play or It Plays Slowly
This document describes how to fix two common problems that frustrate those who wish to watch lectures on Mediasite.
One common problem that users run into with videos on Mediasite is that they click on the thumbnail for the video rather than the link to the video itself. While the thumbnail looks inviting, it is fool's gold. It will not take the user to the video itself, rather Mediasite only intends for the thumbnail to be a means to preview the video. Users should click on the link to the video instead in order to watch the fullscreen, full-feature version.

The second problem that happens to users is that the video will load but it will not play. Sometimes, this happens because the internet browser has high security settings and does not trust streaming content from a non-secure server (that is, the web address that begins with "http" instead of "https").
To circumvent this problem, the user should add "uwgb.edu" to the trusted sites list in her/his internet browser.
In Internet Explorer, click on the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner and select "compatibility view settings" from the dropdown list.

Then, type in "uwgb.edu" in the box and press "add"

You will see the site added underneath, then press "close" and you should be able to watch the video. (Note: You may need to restart or refresh Internet Explorer).

If you use Firefox, then click the three lines in the upper right-hand corner and select "options" from the menu.

Select "security" and press the "exceptions" button.

Type "uwgb.edu" in the box and press "allow."

Notice that the site is added. Click on close and restart your browser.

Now you should be able to watch the video for your class
