Accepting Canvas Course Invitations - UWGB Accounts
The purpose of this document is to show UWGB users how to accept externally-facing course invitations when they already have a UWGB account
Non-credit Canvas courses can be made available internally to our campus, and also to external users. For these courses, it's possible for UWGB students, faculty, and staff to accidentally create a second account. In order to prevent that from happening and ensure that the course appears in Canvas for the user every time they log in, they should sign in with their UWGB account.
Receiving the course invitation
When you're added to one of these special courses, you'll receive a course invitation in your email.
- Click on Get Started in your email invitation.
- A web page will open. It may ask if you already have a Canvas account. If you see this question, select I have a Canvas Account.
*Note: You may not see this page. That is okay.
- On the UW-System sign-in page, select UW Employee/Faculty/Student
- Select UW-Green Bay from the sign-in page.
- Enter your UWGB username and password. Your username DOES NOT contain @uwgb.edu.
You will now be taken to the course your were invited to. Regardless of how you sign into Canvas in the future, either from the normal Canvas sign-in page or the external login page, you will see the course on your Canvas Dashboard.
