Classroom Technology - Camera and Microphone Device Names in Streaming/Recording Classrooms
The wireless microphone and adjustable camera found in a UWGB streaming/recording classroom can be selected as the microphone and camera in videoconferencing programs like Blackboard Collaborate Ultra and Microsoft Teams. This article contains a list of the microphone and camera device names in each room that can be selected within the input settings menu of a videoconferencing program in order to use the recording hardware with these programs.
The differences in hardware configurations from room to room mean that the device names for the camera and microphone will vary depending on which room you are in. Use the table below to determine which device you should select in your classroom. To use these devices with a videoconferencing program, you must first completely close out of the Kaltura Classroom program. You can accomplish this task by performing the following steps:
- Locate the Windows system tray near the clock in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
- Click the Show hidden icons (^) button.
- Right-click the Kaltura Classroom icon.
- Click Quit.

Once you have completely closed out of Kaltura Classroom, you can open the videoconferencing program of your choice and navigate to its device settings or audio/video input settings page and select the appropriate devices based off of the information in this table. Please note that the actual device names seen in the programs may differ slightly or include additional text in parenthesis that is omitted from this table.
