Electronic Grading Options

This document discusses Electronic Grading Options

Desire2Learn (D2L) Gradebook

The Desire2Learn course management system provides an electronic gradebook for faculty at UWGB. This gradebook offers features such as dropping the lowest grade in a category, cumulative totals, import/export capabilities, etc.  In addition, it offers controlled, online release to students through the student D2L interface.  Scanned test results can be imported into the gradebook, and final grades can be automatically posted to Peoplesoft grade rosters at the end of the semester. If you use Excel to calculate your grades, you can also import from Excel into the D2L gradebook.

More information about the D2L gradebook is available by contacting the Learning Technology Center at 920-465-2286, or online at http://www.uwgb.edu/learntech/D2L/Gradebook.htm. Faculty and Instructional Academic Staff must use the online form at http://uwgreenbay.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_3rBYe4IibD29Ieo to request that a D2L course be created.

Excel

Often instructors record grades or create very customized grading schemes in Excel. For large classes, it may be possible to import and post final grades to the Student Information System without manual entry. Please contact the LTC at 920-465-2286 for assistance.

Test Scanning & Import Capabilities

Computer Services offers a test scoring and analysis service to instructors at UW - Green Bay. If an instructor designs a multiple answer test, a scanner sheet can be used for the student’s responses, which can then be read and scored. The instructor can request that an electronic file be created so that scores can be imported into the D2L gradebook.

Information about importing scanned test results into a D2L gradebook is available at http://www.uwgb.edu/learntech/D2L/ScantronGB.htm.
