Recovering a Lost File Saved Off of OWA

An attached document from OWA saved without designating a save area will not be able to be located in a students M Drive. Here are the steps to recover those documents:

*Note: this will only work if the student is still logged in. If they have logged out the temporary  files will delete.

  1. Open an explorer window.

  1. Type in the path below in the search bar replacing “USERNAME” with the students login Username. (Alternatively, have the user open the file again in the application and copy the path from the file menu.  (example is Word)

“C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\”

When in the folder press “ALT+F”, go to Tools, and click on “folder options”

  1. Make sure to “show hidden files, folders and drives” and uncheck these three boxes

  1. You should see the folders and can access each one to find the document the student is looking for. Sorting  by date or file name may help find them faster.
