Timer in Qualtrics

This document will describe how to add a timer or force a user to stay on a question in Qualtrics for a time

To force a user to stay on your survey slide for a fixed duration can be done by adding JavaScript to hide the next button.  To do this.

1. Click on the question you want to add this to.

2. Click the purple gear box window on the left

3. Select Add JavaScript from the drop down list.

4. Now you can replace the empty brackets with the following

Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.addOnload(function(){
this.hideNextButton();
this.showNextButton.delay(5);
});

In this case, the next button is hidden for 5 seconds, you can change this to any number you want.

4a. Alternativly you can set a timer question to be on the same page as the timed question, then to the right modify the seconds to disable submit window.
