How do I renew library materials? Can I renew items I have checked out via Universal Borrowing or InterLibrary Loan?
You can renew items online, in person, or over the phone.
Most 28 day checkouts can be renewed twice, while semester long checkouts can be renewed once. If you wish to renew items that you have checked out, you have a few options. You can renew the items online, in person or over the phone by calling the library at 920-465-2540.
You can renew library materials borrowed from our library or another UW Library through My Library Account. Look for the black and green box on the left side of the library’s home page. You can also get to your library account from the link on the top right of any Search@UW page. Your login is your campus username and password. After you sign in, you will see a list of active loans. At the end of the row for the item, you should see a link for Renew if the book can be renewed. Note: You will need to refresh the screen to see your new due date. To refresh the screen, look at the very top of your browser window, in the box where the URL is. Near the end of this box, there is a circular graphic with an arrow on one end, which is the refresh button. In Google Chrome, this button appears before the URL.
You can renew an item borrowed through Interlibrary Loan (ILL) from your ILL account, which is separate from your Library Account. There is a link to ILL under Quick Links – Renew Books. You will need the barcode off your student ID to log in here. (We are in the process of getting ILL to work with your campus username and password.) On the ILL screen, under View, click on View/Renew Checked Out Items. Then click on the Transaction Number for the item you would like to renew. A Renew Item link will appear near the top of the screen if you are able to request a renewal for the item.
