Joining an Online Room in D2L

This document shows how to join an online room in D2L.

1) Go to the online rooms tab in the navigation bar.

online room

2) Click "join" next to the room you would like to enter. The rooms are listed in a table at the bottom of the page. (Note: if you are viewing an archived session, those will be in this table as well.)

click join

3) Your browser will prompt you to save the .jnlp file. This is what launches the online room. Despite the warning from your browser, this file is safe. So save it and, once it is saved, open it up. This view is from Google Chrome, so it will look slightly different in Firefox, Explorer, or Safari. Nonetheless, the basic idea is the same. You want to save the session to your downloads folder - just as you would an email attachment - and then open up the file.

4) Once Java starts, press run. (Again, despite the warning.)

press run

5) Now you are in the room.
