Logging into Online Rooms on a Mac

This document describes how to login to an Online Room in D2L on a Mac computer for the first time.

First go to the "Online Rooms" portion of D2L

go to online rooms

Then, find the room that is open to you and click "join."

click join

Depending on the browser you are in, you may need to allow pop-ups. (This view is in Firefox. For Safari, you will need to go into the "Preferences" of the browser.)

allow pop-ups

Once the new page opens, select "download launcher." (The launcher is a program that will open the Online Room for you.)

Once the launcher has downloaded, place it in the "applications" folder. You may drag the launcher from your download folder and put it in the applications folder. (The launcher is the purple icon)

Once you have the launcher safely nestled in the applications folder, you will be able to click "join" in your internet browser (Safari or Firefox or Chrome)

Oddly, even though you have gone to all the trouble to download the launcher, you will still be asked how you want to open the online room. Select the blackboard collaborate launcher from the list of options available. (Again, it is the purple icon.)

Run java

run jana

You will now be in the online room.
