New Video or Audio in D2L
As of D2L version 10.4.x and available June 2016, the process and player for uploaded and embedded video and audio files has been improved. In this case, audio and video files will either be from external web sources (e.g. YouTube), or uploaded into the Content area via drag-and-drop. Note, this is for different audio/video content than what exists in Kaltura and other campus media streaming services.
This document attempts to explain the New ability to insert video or audio files or URLs into D2L course Content.
- From the Content area of a course, click on the blue New button and select Video or Audio
- For most major video streaming sites (e.g. YouTube), you can simply paste the URL to the video, name it, and click Save. D2L will figure the rest out. If the preview is not displaying your video, you may need to copy and paste the "embed" code for the video. Your video source should have this available.
If you'd like to upload a video, click on the Upload tab and browse to your video file, or drag-and-drop it into the window.
- Your video now exists as it's own Content item. When students click on the video's name in Content, they'll be taken to a player where your course documents would normally be displayed.
