How to Claim an award in D2L and send to Mozilla Backpack
This document will cover how to claim a badge issued within D2L.
When you have been issued a badge/award/certificate you will be notified with a pop up box. If you click the (x) then you will only be able to claim the award from within the Awards tool in the D2L navigation bar. If that award isn't visible, then contact your instructor:
Click "View Awards"
Enter your information:
Once you tick the box, and confirm your email address click the button to "Share to Mozilla Backpack"
Another screen will ask you if you need to "Login or Sign up"
Persona is a user registry thing that Mozilla uses—so click accept when it’s asking if you agree to the terms (it’s asking if it’s okay to link your Mozilla Backpack to your email you’re specifying above).
Now the Mozilla Backpack window will ask you again if you want to “Accept this badge?” If you click yes, then this badge and all of the information associated with it (like the issuer, the criteria) will be accessible through your backpack.
This screen will appear if you've claimed the badge successfully. If you get an error, make sure you're using the same email address you specified within the first email confirmation screen. If you're still getting an error, email email@example.com with information about the error message, and from which course, this award was issued.
If you’re registering your badge to an email that is different than the one you’re using, you’ll get an error saying that badge wasn’t issued to you. So again, if you’d like the badge issued to an email other than your school email–let me know and I’ll change it.
