Turning Integration for Instructors

If you choose to use the Turning Classroom Response System (CRS) in your course, you are able to integrate with D2L to download class lists and submit student scores.

First Steps (Checklist)

  • Request "Classroom Response System License" along with textbooks for your course.
  • Include a section in your syllabus informing students that there is a classroom response system (CRS) component to the course. Students will need to purchase a semester license code from the bookstore if they have not already done so for another course this semester.
  • Add the integration link to your D2L course (below). If you do not already have a D2L course for the section, request one from CATL.
  • Remind students that they must purchase a license and complete the steps to register their accounts in D2L (these steps are provided when they purchase their licenses and on the UKnowIt KnowledgeBase)

Adding Turning Cloud to your D2L Course

  1. Log in to your D2L course and navigate to content
  2. Open the module where you would like the link to go (often this will be the same module as your syllabus and similar materials)
  3. Click Add Existing Activities and select External Learning Tools
  4. Choose Turning Cloud (NOTE: You’ll want to make sure you’re not selecting Turnitin)

Creating your Turning Cloud Account

  1. Add the Turning Cloud link to your course (LINK)
  2. Click the link from within content
  3. This will re-direct you to the Turning Technologies sign-up page. You should see a message that says “Create a new account to be associated with the Learning Management System, or sign in to an existing account to bind your Learning Management System data to it.” You must enter your UWGB email address and click “Create an account”
  4. You will be sent a verification email (you may need to check your junk folder). Click the link provided in the email (it contains “account.turningtechnologies.com/account”).
  5. Fill out the form provided.
    • It may already populate some information for you (such as email, role [Instructor], and name); verify this information.
    • Choose a Turning account password (this password can be different from your NetID password). Note: Your Turning account password is not linked to your D2L / NetID password in any way.
    • You will need to check to box to agree to the EULA and Terms of Service. Links to both are provided.
  6. You will be prompted to provide a License Code or Response Device ID. Neither are required for instructor accounts. Click finish.
  7. You will be reminded that you may need a license code. You do not. Click Proceed.
  8. You will be logged in to your Turning Account Dashboard page.

Further Support

Turning Technologies provides further support for TurningPoint Cloud. You may wish to further review one of the sites below:
Note: You will not see any mention of "D2L" in the support materials from Turning. Instead, they refer to the platform as "Brightspace." These are the same. Follow the instructions for Brightspace integration.

Note: UWGB uses ResponseWare but does not use physical clicker devices & receivers.

For Students

Students receive this document when they purchase their Turning account license from the bookstore. On their version, the green area at the bottom includes their license code.
