Getting Embed Code from My Media (Kaltura)

To get the embed code for a video (to share in a content item or discussion post in D2L, for example):

Retrieving embed code (single video)

  1. On the UWGB D2L Home page (where you see your list of courses) click Kaltura Media in the navbar and choose Media Management Portal
  2. This should log you in to https://media.uwgb.edu. If it does not, navigate to https://media.uwgb.edu and click to log in in the upper right. Log in with the same credentials you would use to log in to D2L.
  3. Click your profile in the upper right (the person icon) and choose My Media
  4. Click on the media you would like to share (NOTE: If you accidentally clicked “Edit” click “Go To Media” at the bottom)
  5. Click the Actions dropdown and choose Publish
  6. Ensure that the video is marked as either “Unlisted” or “Published”
    • In most cases you will choose “Unlisted,” videos managed in a course gallery may be listed as “Published.” Both are OK for embedding
  7. Click Save
  8. Click the Share button
  9. Choose the Embed option
  10. Choose a player skin and player size (or use the defaults)
  11. Copy the text in the embed code box by clicking in the box (to select all) and then pressing CTRL + C to copy. (You may also be able to right click and select “Copy” depending on your web browser)
  12. Return to the location you would like to embed your media and use the appropriate HTML editor to paste the embed code.

Retrieving embed code (Playlist)

  1. On the UWGB D2L Home page (where you see your list of courses) click Kaltura Media in the navbar and choose Media Management Portal
  2. This should log you in to https://media.uwgb.edu. If it does not, navigate to https://media.uwgb.edu and click to log in in the upper right. Log in with the same credentials you would use to log in to D2L.
  3. Click your profile in the upper right (the person icon) and choose My Playlists
  4. Select the playlist you would like to embed (on the menu on the left or at the top depending on your page size)
  5. Click the Embed at the top
  6. Choose Iframe as the embed type, either a horizontal or virtical layout, and light or dark theme. 
  7. Copy the text in the embed code box by clicking in the box (to select all) and then pressing CTRL + C to copy. (You may also be able to right click and select “Copy” depending on your web browser)
  8. Return to the location you would like to embed your media and use the appropriate HTML editor to paste the embed code.

Adding embed code in D2L:

Add embed code anywhere you have the rich text editor:

  1. Click Insert Stuff
  2. Choose Enter Embed Code
  3. Paste the copied embed code in the box provided
  4. Click Next (choose to allow content if prompted)
  5. Click Insert
  6. Finish the edits in the rich text editor and then publish, update, save, or post depending on the area of D2L
